The Best Vic 20 User Manual

Or, VIC 20 A Friendly Computer Guide.

This is a copy of a thread I shared on Mastodon back on October 17, 2023. I'm posting it here now because social media is ephemeral, and a pain in the ass to go back and find interesting posts. We should do this more, and I'll have a longer blog post about it later. In the meantime, enjoy.

Folks! My friend was at a "junk" shop and found an old computer he thought I might like (a Vic 20? Uh ... yeah!) so he bought it and sent it to me. It works straight away. But the amazing thing?

... the amazing thing? It's this wonderful manual handwritten by the kid who owned it. I'll see if I can find them and get in touch with them

Even the sound chip works. Here's one of the program listings I typed in from the manual for testing out the sound:

It even came with these tapes and many of the programs mentioned in the handwritten manual. I had no tape drive at the time I posted this on Mastodon.
